Grace Mai Kwai
Artist member since 2025
Grace Mai Kwai works primarily in oil painting and fiction writing. Her interdisciplinary practice explores themes of feminine vulnerability, labour, and resilience through a distinctly surreal and often fantastical lens. Her work is deeply rooted in the female perspective, centering women’s voices and lived experiences in ways that challenge objectification while embracing emotional complexity.
Grace’s visual art leans into symbolic and surreal imagery, often depicting female figures in dreamlike or unsettling environments that examine power, body politics, and the quiet strength found in moments of stillness or rupture. Her narrative work similarly foregrounds the lives of women, particularly those on the margins, using fiction as a tool to unravel societal structures and imagine alternate realities where softness and survival coexist.
